Nice Boots

KEEN Oregon Waterproof Hiking Bison

KEEN Oregon Waterproof Hiking Bison

so right out of the box i took these boots to mt. whitney, whitney was closed so we ended up doing langley wich was awesome. i was nervous that my feet would get blistered and beat with no break in period. ended up being a great choice ! i have never had a better boot, 21 miles of hiking and not one sore spot on my feet . plenty of support! i do agree with one of the reviews saying that the toe box was hard to tighten up but with a little effort they felt great on the way up and on the way down. i have a wide foot and the 13 D(M) was perfect. plenty of room with out my toes slamming into the front on the way down > at the end of the day GREAT BUY! im now a big fan of keen.as much as i wanted to dunk my foot in a stream i didnt so i cant comment on the water proofing of the boot . i highly recomend this boot! felt like a nike !

  1. So, I had a pair of summer boots by keen targhee II. So, I figured that I would order the same size in the Oregon model. The boot fit the same. While these boots needed little break in time, I am not so sure I would have worn them on a 10 hour hike. I've been wearing them on 2 to 3 hour hikes and they seem to be performing well. There are some comments about the laces, but truthfully, I am not sure the laces are a problem. It's hard to cinch the toe area laces the boot just does not give that much across the toe where the laces are. I have not stood in puddles, but I did hike for about 2 hours in the rain and my feet stay dry. I have been training for a winter hike in the Himalayas during the summer months and surprisingly the boots are not too hot. My sock are damp, but not any more so than when I used the Targhee II boots. I only have maybe 100 miles on these things so far, but they seem to be wearing well. The soles don't seem to be any more slippery than you would expect when stepping on or over wet roots, rocks and trees. I would not call them "grippy", but hey are not slippery either.

I am happy with my purchase and the price was right.

  3. I got these boots for hiking and I wanted to get a head start on winter this year. I've owned many types of boots all leather none of them fit like these Keens. The first day I got them they fit like a glove and ankle protection is there also. I've had basketball shoes that didn't feel as nice as these boots from the sole to the uppers all around great boots. They also allow your feet to breathe I have not had a chance to get in the water with them yet but if there is any problems with that I just get some Kiwi waterproofing for them.

  4. I love these boots - very comfortable toe box, first boot to really fit me in that area. Very stable, very good on rock, not too heavy but substantial feeling. I'm thinking of buying another pair just in case they aren't available when I wear these out. I'm a lifelong hiker, mountaineer and backpacker. Not an expert in anything but my own feet, and my feet like these!

  5. I've had my boots for a couple of weeks now, and must say that they are the best boots I've owned to date. They are comfortable, lightweight and moulded to my feet in approx 2 days.

The service supplied was excellent as I received them with 5 days of ordering using standard shipping....to an APO address that is.

A big thumbs up from me!

  6. Keen's Oregon boot is very comfortable from day one. I work on concrete 10 hour shifts and there is no breakin needed. The boot gets realy warm after a few hours so I don't wear cotton socks. Great boot.

  7. I have bilateral, chronic plantar fasciitis and use the Keen Pittsburgh work boot without my inserts. This boot has a very similar construction and I can wear this boot for hours with limited discomfort.

  8. Good looking boots that are very comfortable out of the box. I would definitely recommend ordering at least 1/2 size larger than normal. Slightly heavier than my last pair, but look very durable.

  9. After several hikes on the SHT, numerous days and nights out lollygagin in da toolies, I have found the perfect hiking boot. Ok they are stiff, but once they're broke in,and it takes a while, these boots are like slippers. Spend the $ and get these.
