Raksha Blood Fire Series ebook

Raksha Blood Fire Series ebook

I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review. I love this cover!!! It definitely makes a statement. This book was kick- ass!!! Frankie Rose wrote an amazing dystopian story where the characters come face to face with life altering decisions, either to help themselves or to help others. The world that was created was so detailed yet contains so many mysteries that I can't wait to unfold completely. Book one is just the tip of the ice berg, I feel like Frankie Rose has many more up her sleeve. I enjoyed how the book went from being sterile of all emotions to showing a variety. I just loved the whole storyline. I really find dystopian interesting because they author had free reign to do whatever they want not like for example if the story was about fairies it needs Mab and Oberon. Dystopian stories are just so original!
I loved Kit!!! She went from an emotionless drone to an emotion filled character. I loved the internal struggles that she was dealing with, to wear or not to wear her Halo, and what to do about her feelings for Ryka. I also liked how she was willing to compromise her freedom in order to help others escape. Ryka started off as kind of a jerk but I have fallen in love with him. I think he shares a lot of the same morals with Kit so they will make an excellent couple. I can't wait to see what happens.
Clearly, I will be continuing on with this series. It's to amazing not to. I need to know what happens to these characters. I would recommend this book to dystopian lovers and those who appreciate a good YA read!!

  1. I had a lot of trouble trying to put this down, if you happen to like your heart pounding and your palms sweating then you probably will fall in love with this book and the world you end up in.
We follow Kit, a collared, emotionally sedated and highly skilled knife fighter who is trained to kill for the entertainment of the crowds who fill the Colosseum, and for the capital gain of her family (who treat her much like they would live stock). So stuff happens (and no I am not going to tell you what or how) and Kit is pulled out of her secure but incredibly violent life into a place where she unshackles her humanity and comes to face her guilt, her fears and her capacity to love.
I highly recommend this book and Ms. Rose, I am desperate for the next instalment!
Pretty Please, with knives on top ;)

  2. First all I have to say is WOW I am so in love with this book. I gotta say this book grabbed my attention from start to finish. It starts out with Falin Kitsch who wears a thing called a Halo that feed her drugs to keep away her emotions as she prepares for a fight to the death. She is shocked to learn the fight is with her long time friend and trainer Falin Asha. She knows something is not right with him but never says anything. During the fight she gets the feeling something is wrong and her halo is working overtime to stop her from feeling she dosent know what to do when the fight draws near the end her friend breaks her halo and he dies. Falin Kitsch is stunned her halo is broken and she is feeling everything and to make maters worse her dead friends sister Penny wants her to come see her. Once there Penny informs her that Falin Asha halo had stopped working months ago and broke hers to get her out and that she needed to leave before any one knew her halo was broken before she left penny gave her a holo stick and told her to watch it.

As Falin Kitsch Now called Kit runs for her life finds a way to escape once out she runs into a radical named Ryka who is also a fighter in his town called Freetown. Now once in Freetown alot of things happen kit just dosent know what to do yet she has all these feelings she has never felt before and is having a hard time making sense of them all. So many people are out to get her because she was a female fighter now that she is in freetown she shouldnt be fighting. Can Ryka save her or will they both save eachother. I didn't give many details because it would ruin it for you if I did. Great Job Frankie Rose I am so excited and cant wait for the next book to come out.

  4. In RAKSHA, Second daughter of Kitsch Family, aka Kit, is a true warrior, as all Seconds are trained to be. She slashes lives left and right in the arena without a moment's hesitation, bringing cheers from the Trues and Firsts who revel in the entertainment. That is, until the humanity-numbing Halo attached to Kit's neck is pulled free, and the girl deep inside begins to emerge...

I LOVED the settings and characters of this unique Dystopian. Kit's plight hooked me immediately. Her cold, kick-ass persona comes on strong, creating a tension-packed contrast to the new feelings stirring within her. Though horrific, the physical battles she endures are easy compared to the new and dangerous arena of emotion.

This is Dystopian at its finest. I can't wait for the sequel!

  5. Every once and a while a good story gets me so wrapped up in the plot, I feel like I am experiencing every moment alongside the main character. With Raksha, this was definitely the case. The author has a way of making sure you KNOW exactly how Kit (the protagonist) feels (or how she doesn't feel as is the case in the beginning of the story). If you want a read that's easy to put down.... Raksha is NOT for you. However, if your looking to spend the next few hours curled up on a couch somewhere with your nose against your kindle, then I would definitely recommend Raksha as your next read.

When I first heard of Raksha, my first thought was, here we go, another book on the dystopia bandwagon (Hunger Games anyone). However, within a few chapters, I realised that Raksha was a different kind of animal. The book takes place many many many years after the fall of the modern world (The story only briefly touches on this subject, leaving the reader to draw their own ideas). In a walled city called "The Sanctuary" the citizens are taught that feeling emotion is evil and wear "halo's" around their necks from birth. These Halo's release drugs into the body that prevent the wearer from feeling any kind of emotion. Now I won't spoil anything else but this isn't your average dystopian. I've read Hunger Games, and Divergent (great books in their own right) and Raksha is another completely different complement to this genre bearing about as many similarities to those books as Harry Potter to The Chronicles of Narnia. Ranging from stony indifference to raging religious fanaticism, to bloodthirsty crowds, to the coolest band of knife fighters you'll ever see (or read...), to the craziest, scariest, shiver inducing priestess you've ever meet, this story will be a hit.

PS: I read the knife fighting scenes four or five times because they were so awesome!

  6. Wow, just really wow. This book was so well written. I was engrossed from page one. The world that Frankie Rose has created is terrifying and brilliant. At first I thought it reminded me of The Hunger Games, where children fought to the death, but this book was something else entirely.
We have Kit, who never knew life without her halo. Now she is forced out of the life she knew and into another one where she has feelings and free will. She meets Ryka on her first day of freedom and life as she knew it will never be the same.
I loved this book! Loved the way the story flowed so well. I for one cannot wait for the next book in the series!! Well done Frankie Rose, well done. This is one new author you won't want to miss
